TaylorMade P790 Irons Reviewed by Mark Crossfield

by Maura Hutchinson

With the new Taylormade P790 Irons being released we sent a set down to Mark Crossfield to test and try out on the course.

To give a complete test Mark also tested them in his indoor simulator to drill down into the numbers. Mark describes how these are a players irons but in a new modern twist. They are a forged iron for superior feel and have been moulded into a medium to slim body. The forging and speed foam have created a really great feel and most notably sounding club.

The speed foam has been injected into the center of the club to help take the weight and move it away from the center. Moving the MOI to the outside to the club dramatically improves the forgiveness and launches the ball higher trajectory. To help the higher launch properties there Taylormade have added both Tungsten weights in the sole of the set from the 7 iron up and speed slots to help with off center low hits.
