Tiger Woods to Play Doral Despite Back Trouble

It’s an injury that’s plagued the Nike player throughout the past year, but Tiger Woods isn’t ready to give in to a troublesome back just yet.

Despite having to withdraw from the Honda Classic on Sunday after 13 holes, Woods announced yesterday he would be participating at the WGC Cadillac Championship and looking to defend his title from 2013.

Having had treatment for the back injury everyday since Sunday, the 38-year-old believes he is ready to attack the new Blue Monster at Doral.

“I feel better,” Woods told reporters on Wednesday. “It's been a long couple days of just treatment non-stop, trying to get everything calmed down. Treatment has gotten me to the point where I am now and then tomorrow go all out.”

As for his early exit on Sunday, Woods described how he explained it to his 6-year-old daughter Sam.

“I was telling Sam when I was walking off that, 'Hey, Daddy can handle pain, but I just couldn't move out there,” recalled Woods. “I got to a point where I couldn't twist. So trying to explain to your 6-year-old daughter why you quit is certainly a very interesting concept and topic.”
