Sweden’s Alex Noren pulled off a stellar win in France on Sunday to claim his tenth European Tour title at the Open de France. After starting the final round seven-shots off the lead, Noren got to work. Producing birdies on two of the final three holes to finish with an impressive four-under 67.
The 35-year-old’s win moves him up to second in the Race to Dubai standings and Noren is hoping his result at Le Golf National proves he is integral to a European team victory here in September.
“If I would be on the [Ryder Cup] team it would mean a lot,” the Swede told reporters. Adding, “You get good memories from here. The first two years I came here I thought I could never win around here and the last three years I’ve had good results. It helps a lot.”
Good news for Alex as Europe’s captain was definitely watching…

Over on the PGA tour Italy’s Francesco Molinari cruised to his first title on the American tour at the Quicken Loans National. Shooting the lowest 72-hole score of his career to destroy the tournament record by an incredible seven-shots at 21-under 259.
Molinari‘ s dominance in DC made his decision to skip the Open de France a truly wise one.
“I came here obviously because I was right on the bubble in the FedEx and I wanted to gain a better position, so I guess job done,” the 35-year-old said afterwards.
Adding, “It wasn’t an easy decision, I thought until the last minute whether to go to France or to come here but seems like it was the right choice in the end.”
