Jordan Spieth Continues Winning Streak at Hero World Challenge

Jordan Spieth Continues Winning Streak at Hero World Challenge
Jordan Spieth is having an amazing start to the new golf season.  Following up an incredible win at last weekend’s Australian Open with a crushing 10-stroke victory at yesterday’s Hero World Challenge Day.

It might have been Tiger Woods’ return tournament but the 21-year-old Texan stole the limelight with even his competitors admitting Spieth was truly unstoppable.

Runner-up, Henrik Stenson told reporters afterwards, “It was a one-horse race.  All the rest of us had to do was battle it out for second, really.”

An amazing Saturday 63 gave Spieth a nice 7-stroke buffer going into Sunday’s final round.  Where the Titleist player’s fine form continued with another impressive round of 6-under-66.  Finishing at an astounding 26-under-262, trumping the previous course record of 22-under set by Woods in 2007.

“This caps off the best golfing year that I’ve ever had,” said Spieth afterwards.  “Each year has been a little better than the last.  Hope it continues in 2015.”

Woods’ return to the professional scene offered little to write home about.  With the 38-year-old finishing last in the 18-man field, it was obvious there’s still work to be done.

But the Nike player remains positive despite a less-than-stellar start to the season.

“I didn’t hit the ball as well I would like, the short game was awful, but it’s a good sign I played four straight days and there was no pain,” said Woods.

As for the young Spieth, he’s hoping the momentum he picked up in Australia carries through to the New Year as the golfer looks ahead to capturing his first major title and possibly giving World Number One, Rory McIlroy a run for his money.

Bring on 2015!
