The greatest golfers in the world don’t always hit the perfect shot. If they have trouble with their irons then where does that leave your average player?
TaylorMade has given this question a lot of thought and come up with their answer to help every golfer “love your mis-hits.” Introducing their latest range of irons, the RSi, featuring the brand’s incredible Speed Pocket combined with the revolutionary Face Slot Technology.
“No golfer is perfect, not even the best players in the world hit the center of the club every time,” explains TaylorMade's director of product creation for irons, putters and wedges, Tomo Bystedt. “So with RSi, we're giving all golfers a technology that can help their mis-hits perform more like pure strikes.”
Research by TaylorMade found that 76% of iron shots are mis-hits. With statistics like that they set about finding a way to solve the problem. Two years ago, the introduction of the Speed Pocket helped to transform low mis-hits by vertically increasing the sweetspot.
The results were immediate and swift. With Justin Rose and Martin Kaymer both benefitting from Speed Pocket technology during their U.S. Open wins.
Now the research and design team at TaylorMade has looked at horizontally increasing the sweetspot to combat heel and toe mis-hits. Creating Face Slots, in the 3-8 irons, to help protect ball speed across the clubface, enabling more consistent distance wherever you catch the ball.
Translation- even if you miss the centre of the face you should still find yourself closer to the green than you would have before.
