Founded by Ely Callaway in the 1980's, the company has
expanded massively since its humble origins as a hickory golf shaft
manufacturer. By 1995 Callaway Golf had become the world's largest manufacturer
of golf clubs. Part of the reason that Callaway Golf has been so successful is
its pioneering of new technology. It has been at the forefront of many
controversies with the USGA and R&A regarding ball and driver technology.
This desire to make golf easier for those of us who need a helping hand has been
one of their main objectives.
Callaway Golf continues this tradition and has brought out a new
range to suit golfers of all levels. With the
Hyper X and
Hyper X Tour, both high and low handicap players can benefit from the
new Hyperbolic Face Technology which increases the effective hitting area
of the club. The phenomenon of the square drivers continues as Callaway
Golf brings out the
Big Bertha Fusion FT-i, and
FT-i Tour. We
also have their
Limited Edition FT-i 25th Anniversary Driver which, like
the conventional two offers high MOI (Moment of Inertia) and updated VFT
(Variable Face Thickness) for the new USGA rules (CT/VFT).
The FT fairway woods and
Hybrids allow greater distance when hitting off the deck with it's dual
runner sole and low leading edge. With the use of Fusion Technology
the CG (Centre of Gravity) of the club has been strategically lowered allowing
for a higher trajectory and greater carrying distance. As with all of the
FT range, these clubs come with the Optifit weighting system, whereby you can
specify whether you would prefer a draw bias/slice reduction or neutral
weighting.
FT irons have combined the forgiveness of the Big Bertha irons with the
looks of a more traditional club. With a thinner top-line, higher toe and
less offset, the
FT irons have been targeted towards lower handicap players. These
FT irons really are packed full of different features with the modified
TruBore, TPU SenSert, Hot Titanium face and a Tunite Cradle. If you are a
higher handicap player, don't feel left out as this year's iteration of the
Big Bertha Irons are perfect for you. With i-Brids, a new
mix between hybrid and iron, you can have the best of both worlds as they offer
better control than hybrids, and better distance than irons.
New for 2008 are the
Callaway X Forged Wedges designed by Roger Cleveland, founder of
Cleveland Golf.
In consultation with professional golfers, he has used his wealth of experience
to design the most attractive
Callaway wedge yet.
