Deluxe Ball Line Up

Bought this item as a replacement for my 'Line m Up Golf Ball Alignment Tool' which was broken as a result of a fall with a ball in it. After using it one time, I understand I made and error and have to go back to the 'Line m Up Golf Ball Alignment Tool'.
I have 3 problems with the 'Deluxe Ball Line up' :
-it doesn't clip onto the ball, so when setting the line, the apparatus moves from its place, creating a smudged line, at best
-the width of the split to create a line is so wide, that it is impossible to create a thin line (which I prefer)
-due to its construction you can only create a dotted line, which is not beneficial for lining up the ball correctly.
