Ernie Els is hoping for a series of strong rounds at the US PGA playoff events to keep him top of this year's points chase.
Speaking to the AFP, the
Callaway FT Tour golf driver user revealed that he has been pleased with his start to the season.
Els has already won two tournaments earlier this year in March and managed a couple of top five finishes to keep him in contention for the 2010 season championship race.
"Totally different ball game the next four weeks. So it's very important for me to play well. But for me to keep a lead or enhance my lead, I need to play really well this week. I'm in a good position to do that so I'd like to do it,'' he told the news provider.
"I think by the tour championship, you can feel like maybe guys are coming after you. I think more than anything, we're hunting points. And that's what we're here for. Any way to get a lot of points is to play good golf.''
