After finally securing herself a major with her U.S. Women’s Open win, Michelle Wie spent last week celebrating with a party and media blitz in New York City. See why the 24-year-old said she was excited to get back into golf shoes over the weekend in Arkansas.

From morning shows, to TMZ, to pictures atop the Empire State Building, Michelle Wie was all over New York relishing in her first major success. With most of the action being shown over her twitter feed with the hashtag “WIEinNYC.”

So what did the Nike player get up to in the Big Apple? Despite saying she was afraid of heights, Wie made it to the top of the Empire State building where she posed for pictures with trophy in hand. While interviews on numerous talk shows had Wie practicing her putts in some unusual footwear- 5-inch heels!

Wie was incredibly gracious throughout the whirlwind week, but admitted she was happy to be returning to the course and slipping on a more comfortable pair of shoes!

Telling reporters ahead of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, “I don’t know how people in show business do it. I was just so happy to get on a plane for Arkansas so I could just play some golf already.”

Wie also revealed one special gift she received after her Pinehurst feat, flowers from Adam Sandler.

“I feel like that’s the biggest prize in golf, getting flowers from Happy Gilmore. You know you made it when that happens.”
