Jason Dufner Says 5 More Years on PGA Tour

Jason Dufner Says 5 More Years on PGA Tour
Jason Dufner has told reporters he will only continue in professional golf for about another five years.  Claiming the Champions Tour isn’t for him and he will retire in favour of a different career.

“I'm not going to be one of those guys who plays on the senior tour.  It's not for me,” Dufner said.  “(I have) maybe another five years left of doing this and then onto something else.”

The one-time major winner is a golfer known as much for his laid-back attitude as his intense driving ability.  And last year caused a media stir when a photo taken during a school visit led to the “Dufnering” craze.

At 37, Dufner has gained success later in his career.  After turning pro in 2000 the Titleist player struggled as he bounced between the Nationwide and PGA Tours.  But in 2012 his persistence and hard work paid off as he won his first PGA Tournament at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Dufner went on to claim major success last year, winning the PGA Championship at Oak Hill.  Propelling him into the top 20 of the world rankings.  Currently at number 19, Dufner says there is one event he’d like to win before retiring.

“The national Open.  I always remember thinking the U.S. Open would be a good fit for my game.  I still feel that way ... a U.S. Open would be nice, for sure.”
