Jim Furyk Steals the Limelight at Travelers with PGA’s First-Ever 58

American golfer Jim Furyk proved you don’t have a win a tournament to get the most coverage after producing a record-breaking final round 58.

Russell Knox might have won the Travelers Championship yesterday but it is Furyk who will be remembered more for breaking the PGA Tour’s lowest-ever round record with a scorecard that included 10 birdies, an eagle and no bogeys!

Even more incredible – Furyk started the day in 70th place, with no chance it seemed of contending let alone breaking any records. The Callaway player’s insane 58 on Sunday moved him up 65 spots to finish the tournament at a respectable 5th. Before Sunday the 46-year-old was one of only six golfers to have broken the 60-mark, shooting a 59 at the 2013 BMW Championship. Now he’s in a league all by himself. An accomplishment Furyk calls “really cool.”

“There’s a lot of rounds by a lot of great players ahead of me that have never reached 58, so to hold that record alone right now, on the PGA Tour at least ... is phenomenal,” Furyk told reporters on Sunday.  Adding, “To have a little, small place in history is something you dream of.”
