Karrie Webb Showing the Young Guns She’s Still Got it
39-year-old Karrie Webb has retained her lead at the HSBC Women’s Champions for the second day in a row.

Webb enter round 2 on Friday in Singapore with a one-stroke lead after carding a beautiful 6-under 66 Thursday.  While today’s round wasn’t as clean as the first, the six-time major winner was able to keep her cool while mixing 3 bogeys with 6 birdies.  Finishing the day at 3-under 69, two-shots ahead of the nearest competition, Angela Stanford.

Coming off her triumph at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open earlier this month, Webb is proving she can still take on the younger generation of LPGA players.

Joking with reporters today about her and 36-year-old Stanford’s current positions Webb said, “Two old ducks, I guess.”  Adding, “Did you ask any of the young players if it's hard to play against girls in their 30s?  Because you always ask me the opposite question.”

The Australian, who won the tournament in 2011, will be hoping to keep her lead throughout the weekend.  And while reaching number 1 again is still something she thinks is possible Webb’s not going to let it consume her everyday thoughts.

“Fifteen years ago I woke up and I was going to do whatever it took to be No.1.  I know I'm capable of doing that but it's not something I live and die for.”
