Seve the Movie’s Wimbledon Connection

A new film about the late golfing legend, Seve Ballesteros has an interesting connection to another high-profile sports figure- tennis star Andy Murray.

The 27-year-old Wimbledon champion is just one of the investors in the film that chronicles Ballesteros’ life from humble beginnings in Spain to global successes on the golf course.

For Murray, the chance to invest in the opportunity was one that made good business sense but also came with a personal connection.

“My dad was a massive Ballesteros fan.  He loved watching him when we were younger,” Murray told reporters last week.  Adding, “I normally try to invest in something that interests me a little bit.  This was something to me that made sense.  I obviously love sport, I used to play a lot of golf and Seve was a pretty amazing guy.”

The five-time major winner who died in 2011 is depicted throughout the film using archive footage with dramatized reconstruction, a fitting tribute to a true golfing hero.

Seve the movie premiered June 27th and is currently in theatres throughout the UK.
