Victory Roundup – Solid Rounds and Impressive Wins at Wentworth and Fort Worth

It was another beautiful bank holiday weekend, making the golf on both sides of the pond even more enjoyable to watch. With two worthy winners picking up their latest titles, here’s a rundown of the action from Texas and Virginia Waters. Plus a look at the gear the pros are winning with that you can buy now at GolfOnline.

Italy’s Francesco Molinari secured his fifth European Tour victory, winning the PGA Championship at Wentworth over the weekend. The 35-year-old began the final day in a tie for first with Rory McIlroy but two early birdies put Molinari ahead and the Italian never let up. Carding a final round 68 for a 17-under total, two-strokes ahead of McIlroy.

“It feels amazing, I’ve been close so many times,” Molinari told reporters after winning the Tour’s flagship event. “If I could pick one tournament to win it would be this one.”

His latest win propels Molinari into the Top-20 in the world and also goes a long way in helping the Italian to gain a place on Thomas Bjorn’s Ryder Cup team later this year.

“It’s big for me,” the Bettinardi player said. “I can’t tell you how hard it is to watch that event [The Ryder Cup] on TV and I would love to be in the team this time out.”

Here’s a look at the gear Molinari used to land his big win:

Over on the PGA Tour England’s own Justin Rose proved his game is in top form as he cruised to a three-shot victory at the Fort Worth Invitational. The 37-year-old’s latest win marks his ninth on the American tour and ties him with Sir Nick Faldo for the most wins by an Englishman.

“It was very impressive the way he played all day,” said Brooks Koepka who finished in second. “He never backed off. Never really gave an opportunity for anybody to get in there.”

Rose’s 20-under-total helps to propel the TaylorMade player to number three in the world rankings, matching his highest ever spot.

“I feel like I have seen everything from my game this week. I’ve putted well in spells, I’ve hit fairways, I’ve hit my irons well, I’ve chipped well when I needed to,” Rose told reporters over the weekend. Adding, “I feel like everything this week has been working at some point.”
