Callaway’s 2024 July Major Bag draws design inspiration from the deep-rooted traditions and stunning landscapes of the venue, which proudly hosts this prestigious event for the 10th time this year.
THE FAMOUS 8TH
The 2024 July Major Staff Bag highlights the host venue’s renowned short Par 3 8th hole, regarded as one of the most celebrated holes in golf. Each hole of the course is represented as a postage stamp—showcasing the front nine on one side panel and the back nine on the opposite side. This distinctive theme extends to the matching headcovers and the limited-edition July Major Chrome Tour Golf Balls.
An additional tribute to the famous 8th is reflected in the uniquely designed zipper pulls, crafted in the shape of a coffin, which nods to the iconic bunker located next to the short Par 3 green.
The navy colour predominantly featured throughout the bag signifies the national colours of Scotland, further accentuated by the Saltire on the tee pocket. Additionally, a blue speckled ‘haze’ decorates various components of the bag, symbolising the fierce winds and sea that are integral to links golf.
STEEPED IN TRADITION
Two coronets (not crowns!) are elegantly embroidered on the handle, representing the 5th and 6th Dukes of Portland, former custodians of the land who permitted their estate to be utilised for the establishment and upkeep of the club. A serpent, frequently adorning the crests of the family’s coat of arms, gracefully winds through the 2024 icon at the bottom-front of the bag.
POCKETS LINED WITH HIDDEN TREASURE
Upon opening the ball pocket or the main storage compartment, you'll discover the lining embellished with hidden motifs of gold, jewels, and golf clubs. This design draws inspiration from the “Smugglers’ Trail,” a pathway that runs alongside the course, historically used by smugglers to transport contraband from ship to shore.
