Utilising innovative Spin Tread Technology and a RAW face finish, the MG5 wedges offer enhanced spin and control, even in challenging wet conditions. Much like the tire treads on your vehicle, the Spin Tread Technology helps redirect water away from the clubface, increasing friction with the ball during impact.
SAW-MILLED GROOVES
Setting a new standard in the MG family, the MG5 wedges feature advanced saw-milled grooves. This innovative milling process allows TaylorMade’s designers to push the boundaries of groove geometry legally. Reengineered with ultra-tight tolerances, steeper walls, and sharper radii, these grooves enable the MG5 to generate more spin than its predecessors.
SPIN RETENTION IN WET CONDITIONS
Building on the success of prior MG generations, the MG5 wedges utilise a RAW face finish combined with the latest continuous Spin Tread Technology. This technology allows golfers to maintain superior spin and control, even when faced with wetter conditions. The continuous Spin Treads function like premium all-weather tyres, effectively redirecting water away from the face and boosting friction at impact. The combination of these advancements enables the MG5 to retain 13% more spin than the MG4 in wet conditions, whilst ensuring a consistent launch angle across varying scenarios.

Geared towards a diverse range of golfers, the MG5 wedges come in six different Tour-inspired grinds, crafted by TaylorMade’s master wedge designer, Greg Cesario. Three of these grinds align with TaylorMade’s standard bounce profile, appealing to the majority of golfers: the SB, SC, and SX grinds.
SB GRIND
The SB grind features a full sole design with consistent trailing edge relief, enabling smooth and reliable turf interaction compatible with various swing styles. Its gentle four-way camber enhances versatility for players who prefer to manipulate the clubface, while the broader sole width adds forgiveness, particularly beneficial for those with steeper swings.
