THE FIRST DRIVERS TO OPTIMISE POI FOR STRAIGHTER MISS-HITS
Traditionally, MOI has been the primary measure for companies aiming to boost both club stability and forgiveness. However, Cobra is pioneering the conversation around a lesser-known measurement called POI. This accounts for club rotation across all three axes (MOI,Y (horizontal), MOI,X (vertical), and MOI,Z (toe up or down)) that occurs during off-centre hits. The OPTM drivers are the first to improve both MOI and POI through strategic weight placement and shaping, resulting in a super driver that significantly reduces the gear effect to yield up to 23% tighter dispersion, facilitating longer and straighter off-centre shots.
THE FIRST 13K DRIVER
Cobra has equipped its highest MOI driver with a lower POI, achieving the first-ever 13K driver and the most stable driver in golf. This impressive 13K MOI value is realised by merging the 10K MOI measurements across the two horizontal (MOIyy) and vertical (MOIxx) axes with the diagonal axis (MOIzz). Employing supercomputing and A.I. technologies, Cobra engineers have established a design harmony that maximises MOI while reducing POI by over 50%. The result is a remarkable decrease in side spin on off-centre hits, facilitating straighter and more precise drives that remain closer to your intended target line. In tests against the DS-ADAPT MAX-K, the OPTM MAX-K realised an impressive 0.5 shot gained and 82% more playable drives per round.
RESHAPED FOR FORGIVENESS
To optimise both MOI and POI, the mass is symmetrically distributed around the centre of gravity across the three key axes and is tightened around the CG to minimise the club’s diagonal resistance to rotation. Using A.I.-driven simulation tools, Cobra engineers have scrutinised millions of impact locations, leading to a profound understanding of gear effect and the optimal placement of metal/mass as well as moveable weights in each model.
