is looking to capitalise on their relationship with American professional Bryson DeChambeau
. Offering their first-ever single length irons to the market. So what’s the hype all about and could the King F7 One Length really transform your game?
Last spring much was made of rookie DeChambeau and his unusual set of irons – all the same length and weighting as a typical 7-iron. At the time the golfer left many scratching their heads with his explanations of a single plane swing and his talk of mixing physics with golf. The so-called “Golf Scientist” soon signed with Cobra Puma Golf and the brand stated it was looking forward to working with the dynamic player.
“Right away we noticed his progressive approach to the game, which is rooted in science and art, along with his passion and dedication. We can’t be more thrilled to have him as part of our COBRA PUMA GOLF family,”
said Robert Philion, President & CEO of COBRA PUMA Golf at the time.
DeChambeau was also happy with his choice stating, “The COBRA and PUMA brands complement my style, attitude and desire to be innovative, while allowing me to continue to be myself, and think outside the box. I’m really thrilled to be part of this cutting-edge and creative company.”
Now just a few months later Cobra has announced their latest iron design based on the 23-year-old’s unconventional style of play. The Cobra King F7 One Length Irons
look to offer golfers consistency in every swing. Giving them one set up, one swing and hopefully more greens. A concept DeChambeau believes will help golfers of all abilities from juniors up to adults.
“I have a more technical, unique swing than many other players, but there is a misconception that single-length irons are only for a single-plane swing like mine. That is simply not true,” explains the American. “Regardless of how you swing and what your skill level is, you can benefit from the simplicity of a constant length set of irons.”
Featuring the brand’s innovative TECFLO construction, the King F7 One Length also utilises a PWRSHELL Face, Precision Milled Grooves and a lower and more centred CoG. All of this technology Cobra says will lend its way to these irons being more consistent and precise without sacrificing forgiveness. Cobra has properly attacked this design process. Producing multiple head constructions to address the different ways each iron performs. By designing to optimise each iron’s potential the brand believes you will reap the benefits, hitting more greens and getting closer to the pin than ever before.
For those of you still not totally sold on the one-length iron concept, Cobra has also designed the King F7 Irons in a traditional Variable Length option. Featuring the same incredible technologies to offer players more distance, forgiveness and precision.
Both the One Length and the Variable King Cobra F7 Irons will be available to buy mid-January 2017 with pre-ordering being in December.
