Cobra Puma Golf announced earlier this week that they have signed the newly turned pro,
Bryson DeChambeau.
The 22-year-old American has been making waves recently after becoming only the fifth golfer in history to win the NCAA Men’s Individual Championship and the U.S. Amateur in the same year. Other recipients of both include Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods – so DeChambeau’s in good company!
As well as his amateur accolades, the rookie is also known for his unorthodox swing technique and his unusual set of irons. DeChambeau, a physics major at Southern Methodist University, is passionate about merging his two great loves – science and golf.
This has led the American to study Homer Kelley’s
The Golfing Machine, with DeChambeau taking the single-plane swing approach he read about in the book. In order to make this work for him the golfer customised his irons so that they are all the same length (37 ½ inches), allowing DeChambeau to have the same swing with each club.
After competing in his first Masters tournament last week, as an amateur he finished T21, DeChambeau will make his professional debut this week at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Cobra Puma Golf has announced he will be wearing Puma apparel, accessories and golf shoes throughout the 2016 season. His bag this weekend will include the
Cobra King F6+ Pro Driver and the
Cobra King F6 3 Wood.
The brand is already getting excited about their newest ambassador.
