SIM2 Irons - Powered for You to Expect Better Shots

by Maura Hutchinson

TaylorMade Golf is keen to prove they’ve got the game improvers among us covered, and the new SIM2 Max/SIM2 Max OS Irons are a great example of just how good their R&D team really are. Read on to find out more about the latest technologies TaylorMade is employing to help sort out your iron game in 2021.

Don’t Just Want Better Shots, Expect Them

Building upon the success of last year’s SIM range of irons, TaylorMade went back to the drawing board to see how they could further improve on a line of clubs that suited players of every level. The SIM2 Max and SIM2 Max OS Irons were created using a multi-faceted design, the brand says will help to minimise unwanted vibrations that can generate the harsh feel associated with many distance irons.

The latest SIM2 range promises to take game improvement to the next level through a mix of new and improved technologies. A revolutionary Cap Back Design is key to the SIM2 Irons success. Eclipsing the performance of traditional cavity backs, the unique multi-material construction of these irons results in better feel, forgiveness and distance.

Familiar technologies like Thru-Slot and Speed Pocket work with the new Cap Back Design, as well as an intelligently positioned sweet spot (spanning the most common impact zones) to power the SIM2 Max irons. Together they deliver explosive ball speeds and consistency in all the right places. A re-engineered ECHO Damping System stretches from the heel to toe and absorbs unwanted vibrations to help improve feel and maximise face flexibility.

Two Cap Back Designs

The SIM2 Max Irons

Beyond the technologies mentioned above, the all-new SIM2 Max irons use a fast and forgiving face to give golfers more performance exactly where they need it. Expertly designed to approach the threshold of the legal limit, this new face is fast, flexible and super forgiving.

PROS: Great look, sound and feel. Forgiveness and distance. Custom fit available. Steel or graphite shafts.

CONS: At the minute, we can’t think of one. They’re that good.

£££: Buy now online or in store at GolfOnline. Prices range from £114 to £875 depending on set and shaft preferences.

The SIM2 Max OS Irons

TaylorMade states these are the longest and most stable irons in the TM family. An oversized construction delivers stability at impact. A wide sole, stronger lofts and a draw-biased design work to counteract any mis-hits.

PROS: Super game improver irons. Extreme forgiveness, distance and feel. Custom fit available. Steel or graphite shafts.

CONS: The bigger head shape doesn’t make it the nicest looking club, but the benefits far outweigh the negatives here.

£££: Buy now online or in store at GolfOnline. Prices range from £114 to £875 depending on set and shaft preferences.
