Back in 2019, TaylorMade set up the Women’s Advisory Board. The idea was simple - gather 12 women already embedded in the world of golf and use their expertise to help better understand the needs and wants of female golf consumers. Featuring a mix of teaching professionals, touring professionals and elite amateurs, TaylorMade engineers were able to use the Advisory Board to help focus on a new design language, as well as the performance requirements women in this segment currently seek, including lightweight speed, easy launch and maximum forgiveness.
“Through the process of consumer segmentation based on golf purchase behaviours and attitudes; we were able to identify three key segments with a high percentage of female golfers. Analysing specific consumer groups, allowed us to highlight key product requirements, relevant influencers of the purchase journey and important consumer touch points,” said Ben Brooks – Senior Manager Global Commercial Innovation at TaylorMade.
The results are the new Kalea Premier, a sleek range of golf clubs including a driver, fairway woods, hybrid, irons and a putter. TaylorMade’s newest women’s set was unveiled last August to rave reviews. Every club is backed by Tour-proven technology and fully fashioned to deliver more clutch putts, more precise long irons and more big drives off the tee.
“We have collaborated with our Women’s Advisory Board in Europe, established Women’s player test panels in the US and educated ourselves with our market research to craft a design language that utilises a bold combination of colours, patterns and textures with premium materials to create a sophisticated, feminine product line,” explained Michelle Penney - Principal Engineer R&D, Metalwood Product Development at TaylorMade.
TaylorMade Ladies Kalea Premier Driver
This driver is engineered for advanced forgiveness, combining a low and back CG with an ultra-lightweight head construction that promotes faster swing speeds. By repositioning the Inertia Generator towards the heel, optimal launch and spin is encouraged to help fuel distance at moderate swing speeds. A revolutionary face curvature has been employed to deliver corrective face angle on off-centre strikes, helping to deliver straight distance off the tee.
