Tiger Woods Tops Golf Digest’s Money List

In the 11 years Golf Digest has compiled its 50 Money List there has only ever been one name recognised as the top earner- Tiger Woods.

The Nike player’s career profits from on-course wins and off-course deals now tips the scales at over $1.3 billion USD. In 2013 alone Woods collected $12 million in tournament money and a staggering further $71 million away from the greens.

For its February issue Golf Digest has named the top 50 earners from the 2013, including Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy and Arnold Palmer.

While many have followed Woods lead in the quest to greatly increase incomes with other business deals, there is one golfer who turned this formula on its head during 2013, Henrik Stenson.

The FedEx Cup and Race to Dubai winner had a stellar season on the course, reflecting in his number five spot on the list.  But unlike many of his contemporaries, the bulk of Stenson 2013 income came from these amazing wins as opposed to endorsement deals. With the Swede cashing in on over $18.5 million from his hard work on the course plus an additional $2.8 million for off-course ventures.
