Pablo Larrazabal wins the Alfred Dunhill Championship

Spanish golfer Pablo Larrazabal has won for the first time in four years, capturing the Alfred Dunhill Championship after a difficult final round.

The 36-year-old began the final round with a six-stroke lead, but quickly got into trouble after six bogeys and a double bogey over the first 13 holes. Also adding to his woes were painful blisters, that the golfer said made him think he wouldn’t even be able to compete in the final round.

“I woke up this morning and I didn’t think I was going to play. I couldn’t put my shoe on, I couldn't walk to the buggy. I couldn't go to the putting green,” Larrazabal told reporters on Sunday.

“I really struggled today. For the front nine I couldn’t walk and then on the back nine I suddenly thought to myself, 'If Tiger can win a US Open with a broken leg, then what is a blister?!'. I just fought hard.”

Larrazabal dug deep during his final holes, producing three birdies and solidifying his win in South Africa.
