It was a match that has been in the works for months. With so much hype surrounding the showdown between two of America’s greatest golfers,
Phil Mickelson and
Tiger Woods took 22 holes to determine who is in fact the GOAT.
The five-time major champion might have come away with the win, but Mickelson was more than complementary about Woods afterwards. Stating, “He’s the greatest of all time but to have a little bit of smack talk for the coming years means a lot to me because I don’t have a lot on him!”
With a cool $9 million on the line, Mickelson and Woods took to Shadow Creek on Friday, duelling it out hole for hole into the darkness. While it wasn’t the best golf we’ve ever seen and the promised smack-talk was a bit dismal, “The Match” proved interesting enough. In America, the pay-per-view service set up for fans to watch the action failed, as Turner broadcasting was forced to make it free for all and is now offering those who did pay a refund.
