Victory Roundup – A weekend of Redemption on the PGA and European Tours

Two veteran golfers without wins since 2016 finally broke their droughts on Sunday. Making it a truly great weekend of golf on both the PGA and European Tours. Catch up on all the action from the Genesis and Oman Opens and see the gear the pros are winning with below.

After a difficult 2017 Bubba Watson is well and truly back at the top. The 39-year-old secured his tenth PGA Tour title on Sunday at the Genesis Open, his third win at the event and his first victory since winning here back in 2016. Watson finished the season that year ranked number seven in the world but the following twelve months would be horrendous for the American who came to Riviera last week as number 117.

“It was the lowest point I’ve ever been at in the game,” Watson told reporters. Adding he even considered giving up on professional golf.

“I was close,” said Watson. “My wife told me to quit whining and play golf. She’s a lot tougher than I am. I get a paper cut and I’m out for a week.”

We’d say Watson owes his wife a huge thanks this Monday morning. After a flawless back nine on Sunday the Ping player finished with an impressive 69 to win by two-strokes over Kevin Na and Tony Finau. Here’s a look at the clubs that helped him do it:

Over on the European Tour Joost Luiten was celebrating after claiming his first title in over a year at the inaugural Oman Open. A final round 68 helped the Dutchman clinched his sixth European win and finish two-shots clear of England’s Chris Wood.

“I had a great start, that’s what I was hoping for. I hit some nice ones in close and rolled in a couple of nice putts and that gets you in the right position, where you want to be,” Luiten told reporters afterwards.
