has unveiled its latest line of irons. Expertly crafted to deliver greater ball speed, more forgiveness and better control. Read on to find out how your game can become more enjoyable in 2019 with the new Wilson D7 Irons
Distance when you want it, precision when you need it…
Wilson Staff has combined the aesthetics of their FG Tour V6 and C300 irons with some super game-improver technology, to give golfers a revolutionary range of distance irons, known as the D7 Irons. Featuring the brand’s thinnest-ever iron face, the D7s also employ the new RE-AKT Technology
, building on from Wilson’s highly successful Power Holes technology
, first used in the C200 irons.
In the longer irons (4-7), Wilson has added a third row of Power Holes to increase face deflection and contact time between impact. Resulting in more energy returning to the ball when struck. A double row can be found on the 8 and 9 irons, and a single row on the PW and GW.
“Once again, we have taken Power Hole Technology to the next level by increasing the ball speed where it’s needed most on longer irons, then controlled the energy that’s returned to the ball on shorter irons where precision and feel is required,” explains Jon Pergande, Global Innovation Manager at Wilson Golf.
Straighter lines and improved weighting…
The new D7 range of irons has been specifically engineered using Wilson’s Feel, Crossover and Distance System (F-C-D), which helps to meet the scoring needs of every type of golfer. One of the key design elements became giving the D7 straighter lines, a cleaner top line and improved weighting.
“We had two primary goals when we were improving the weighting of the D7 irons,” says Pergande. “The first was to improve the mass properties through the set, which we did by cleaning the topline to enable us to push the weight lower on the club head. The second was to push the weight towards the heel and toe to elevate the MOI. This resulted in a 10% increase in MOI over previous distance irons.”
“Our extensive research shows the mid-higher handicapper prefers a thin face; a large sweet spot with weighting in the right place and we feel the D7 irons tick all those boxes, as well as having the looks of a performance iron.”
The new Wilson Staff D7 Irons will be available from mid-January 2019. You can pre-order yours now at GolfOnline. Check out the entire D7 range here
