The artof theputter

Every Scotty Cameron starts in his hands. From a workbench in his father's garage to the eighteenth green at Augusta. This is the Scotty Cameron story, told through every model we hold.

Chapter 01 · The garage
“Stick with the game of golf, Scotty. I think you have a future.”
His father, to a young Scotty Cameron

It started in the 1960s, in the family garage. His dad, an insurance man who played off two, taught him to shape heads, wrap grips and test every new idea on the course. His father didn't live to see what came next. The advice stuck anyway.

1993: Augusta

Bernhard Langer wins the Masters with a Cameron-made Classic I in black oxide, B.L. on the toe. The credit goes to Mizuno, who Scotty is consulting for.

Scotty crosses out the Mizuno stamp. After the PLAYERS, Peter Kostis introduces him to Titleist's Wally Uihlein. By September they are partners.

Chapter 02 · The Classics

The shapes
that never left.

In 1995, with Titleist behind him, Scotty stamped the first Classics. Thirty years later the same names are on the shelf, re-milled for a new face insert and a new generation of strokes.

  1. The original Newport shape

    The Classics

Newport, Catalina, Coronado, Del Mar, La Costa, Laguna, Napa. Santa Fe and Sonoma join a year later.

  2. 1997

    Teryllium

A new insert material and a new sound. Pro Platinum follows in 1999 and the Cameron look on tour becomes unmistakable.

  3. The Newport 2 that won 14 majors

Tiger Woods wins 14 of his 15 majors with the same Newport 2 GSS. The most famous putter of the modern game.

  4. 2008

    Studio Select

After Studio Design (2001) and Studio Stainless (2002), Studio Select refines the Classics for a new decade. Studio Style carries the line on today.

Chapter 03 · The Putter Studio

Art first.
Then the science.

In Southern California, Scotty built the place he dreamed about in that garage. Sketches become prototypes on the milling floor. In the Performance Shop, force plates, lasers and high-speed cameras test them with tour players. The goal never changes: a putter that looks like it melts into the ground.

Chapter 04 · The mallet era

Stability,
Scotty’s way.

Mallets were once the putter you settled for. Scotty set out to make one that looked as clean as a Newport at address. Phantom is the result, and the 2026 family is the most complete yet.

The 2026 Scotty Cameron Phantom family
There's no one right way to putt

So there are nine head, neck and shaft builds in the core line alone.

01

Tour-influenced shaping

Shapes refined with the players who use them every week. Cleaner lines, calmer at address.

02

Redesigned sole plates

Flatter soles, shaped with tour input, so the putter sits the same way every time you set it down.

03

Deeper face

More face to look at and a full-face carbon steel insert behind it. Softer sound, sharper distance control.

04

Rounded topline

A softer edge where your eyes rest. Small change, big difference when you're over a four-footer.

The craft

Milled.
Never rushed.

A Scotty Cameron starts life as a solid block of 303 stainless steel and leaves as something you can feel through the grip. Every line on the topline, every chain-link groove on the face, is there because Scotty decided it should be.

Softer.
Quieter.
Honest.

Carbon steel has better damping than Teryllium or stainless. So the new face insert turns a click into a hush, without giving up a yard of ball speed. You hear less. You feel more.

Questions

Before you choose

Start with your stroke. If your putter swings on a noticeable arc, look at plumbing or jet necks with toe flow, like the Newport 2 or Phantom 5.2. If you move it straight back and through, a face-balanced build like the Phantom 7 DB or an Onset Center model will feel more natural. The finder above gets you close, and a fitting in Stanmore gets you exact.

Every 2026 Phantom has a full-face Studio Carbon Steel insert with chain-link milling for a softer sound, plus deeper faces, refined crowns and flatter soles. The family covers the Phantom 3.2, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 12, with mid-bend, plumbing, jet, double-bend and Onset Center builds.

Onset Center putters are low-torque designs. The shaft is positioned so the head resists twisting during the stroke, which helps keep the face square if you tend to manipulate it. We stock the Phantom 5 OC, Phantom 11R OC and Studio Style Fastback OC.

Studio Style is Scotty's blade and mid-mallet family, based on the Classics shapes like Newport, Catalina and Fastback. Phantom is his mallet family, built for stability and forgiveness. Both use milled steel and the Studio Carbon Steel face insert.

Stock lengths are 33, 34 and 35 inches. Your eyes should sit over or just inside the ball at address with your arms hanging naturally. If you're between sizes, a fitting is the quickest way to settle it.
