Jessica Korda Solidifies 2014 Season Opener with an Interesting Putt
Jessica Korda became the winner of last week’s Pure Silk LPGA Bahamas Classic. Beating fellow American Stacy Lewis by one stroke to win her second career title.

The 20-year-old had an interesting finish to an impressive final round. Choosing to putt from the fringe around the 18th with a reporter and official holding up cabling that would have otherwise blocked her path. For Korda this was an easier choice than the free drop she kindly turned down.

“It wasn't a hard decision at all,” said Korda afterwards. “I felt I had a good lie there. It looked too difficult on either side, so I just stayed right where I was. I remember when I had the pleasure of playing with Jack Nicklaus, he told me a bad putt is always better than a bad chip.”

Sound advice from a golfing legend seems to have paid off for Korda who went on to nail a 6-foot birdie putt to win the tournament. Finishing with a 19-under 273 overall and winning 500 points towards the new Race to the CME Globe.
