Brittany Lincicome Wins ANA Inspiration for the Second Time

Brittany Lincicome Wins ANA Inspiration for the Second Time
The first major of the LPGA season, the ANA Inspiration delivered plenty of excitement. With Brittany Lincicome edging out former number one Stacy Lewis on their third playoff hole.

This marks Lincicome’s second win at the event, after claiming the title in 2009. The 29-year-old sealed her playoff fate with a sensational eagle on her final hole to tie Lewis at 9-under-par.

Her latest victory gives Lincicome six titles on Tour and propels the American from number 18 up to number 7 in the Rolex Rankings.

When asked about her feelings after the win the golfer admitted she was, “Super emotional.  I’m standing here, physically shaking like a leaf still. It’s over and I’m still shaking.”

While Lewis was also after her second jump into Poppie’s Pond, she was more than gratuitous about her defeat.

“The initial reaction is disappointed, obviously,” Lewis told reporters afterwards. “But I played great and I hit some really good putts there, especially at the end ... I just played solid all day, so I have to remind myself of that and not get too frustrated. It just wasn’t quite meant to be today.”

Check out the incredible shot that got Lincicome into playoff position as well as her jump into Poppie’s Pond to celebrate her eventual win!
