Jason Day Moves to World Number 4 With Win at Torrey Pines

Jason Day Moves to World Number 4 With Win at Torrey Pines
Jason Day proved he was back in a big way on Sunday, winning his third PGA Tour victory on the second hole of a 4-man playoff at the Farmers Insurance Open.

A result that hopefully proves the thumb injury that plagued Day last season, forcing the 27-year-old to miss out on three months of competitive play, is well and truly behind him.

Telling reporters yesterday, “I’ve worked very, very hard over the off-season. Hopefully I can stay healthy and have a great season. It’s very satisfying to put in the work and have it pay off so quickly.”

Day was among four players to finish Sunday’s final round at 9-under. But it was the TaylorMade golfer, armed with the R15 Driver and AeroBurner Fairway Wood, that was able to close the deal. Securing victory on the second playoff hole against J.B Holmes.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” said Day who was also sporting the new adidas golf footwear, the adipower Boost. “I’ve been working so hard for this. I was visualizing myself holding the trophy, just like I did at the Match Play. I’m really proud of myself to hang in there and grind it out.”

This latest win pushes the Australian up to number four in the world rankings. A move Day is hoping to build upon in the coming weeks.

“I needed this win, really,” admitted Day. Before acknowledging that the ultimate goal for this season is to reach number.

Rory McIlroy, you’ve been warned. Day is gunning for your spot in 2015!
