Lydia Ko Turns 18 and Defends her Swinging Skirts Title
Women’s golf star Lydia Ko managed to pick up her 7th LPGA Tour victory on Sunday, beating Morgan Pressel in a playoff at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic.

The current world number one was in a celebrating mood, having turned 18 the day before clinching the victory for the second consecutive year.

“At the start of the day, I didn’t know how it was going to go,” Ko told reporters afterwards.  “It’s been a great birthday week again.”

The young New Zealander continues to take her incredible success in stride.  Never seeming over confident but likewise never losing her nerve.  To put her accomplishments in perspective, Ko has not missed a cut in her last 50 Tour starts.  Out of her seven wins two came while she was still just an amateur, her first coming when she was only 15-years-old.

As Ko’s star keeps on rising so do her numbers of fans.  With even Gary Player recognising her achievements this week tweeting, “Congrats ‪@Lko424 on your win ‪@SwingingSkirts. 18 years old with 7 ‪@LPGA titles, looks like you don’t need any help.”

The one thing Ko hasn’t managed in her short yet impressive career?  A major win.  But have no fear we’re pretty sure the Callaway player will tackle that obstacle soon enough.
