McIlroy Misses the Cut at Irish Open

McIlroy Misses the Cut at Irish Open
The world’s number two golfer, Rory McIlroy was visibly disappointed as he missed the cut of the Irish Open last week.

Having played an admittedly bad game on Thursday, McIlroy seemed to be on better form at the start of the second round, scoring a birdie on his first hole.  But the 24 year-old couldn’t maintain the pace, going on to bogey five holes and finish the day just on par, two over for the tournament.

“It's disappointing, I was just disappointed more with how I played yesterday, I actually felt like I played a bit better today,” said McIlroy after the second round.

“When I missed a green I didn't really get up and down and didn't hole many putts, but ball striking wise it was a little bit better today.”

While McIlroy felt the round showed some improvement it still wasn’t enough to make the cut at his home country’s championship.  The player will now have just over two weeks to prepare for the British Open.  Where he will be hoping to regain his form and most importantly make the cut.
