Rain Postpones First Round of Final Ladies Major

Rain Postpones First Round of Final Ladies Major
On the eve of its introduction to the LPGA major arena, many were questioning if the Evian Championship would be able to overcome the wrath of Mother Nature.  For round one on Thursday the answer seemed to be a resounding no as play was finally called off and officials decided to wipe any scores that had been accumulated in the morning.

Friendly banter between the morning and afternoon groups began early with social networking jibes being exchanged throughout the day.  Sweden’s Sophie Gustafson tweeted Golf Digest’s Ron Sirak “Called it. Glad I’m still in bed.”  While officials down at the course began to apologise to those players who’d waited around all morning.

The ladies will hit the tees today hoping the rain-soaked course has had time to recuperate.  Playing round one on Friday, round two Saturday before a cut and then 36 holes on Sunday.
