After a pretty unproductive season
Rory McIlroy showed he’s still able to play with and beat the best. Taking on the number one player in the world for the second annual Match at Mission Hill, McIlroy claimed a 1-stroke victory over
Tiger Woods. Marking his first win of 2013.
Beautiful form on the back nine that included four birdies and an eagle helped the 24-year-old secure the exhibition title for the second time over Woods. Giving hope that McIlroy might be able to regain the spark he’s been missing since switching to Nike earlier this year.
“I’ve seen a lot of promising signs over the past few weeks in practice and also in competitive play,” he said after yesterday’s win. “I still have four tournaments left until the end of the season and I would love to finish 2013 strongly and get a little bit of momentum going into next season.”
