Rory McIlroy Hopes to put a Tough Year Behind Him
Rory McIlroy has admitted that off-course distractions, including two court cases have led to a somewhat lackluster professional year.  The former number one has found it difficult to regain the momentum he exhibited last season but now hopes a stellar performance at the DP World Tour Champions in Dubai will reestablish his game.

On Tuesday the Nike player told reporters, “As a golfer, you want your mind as clear as possible, and it's hard for that to happen when you've got other things that are going on.”

Having slipped down to number six in the world rankings, McIlroy has taken some advice from the current number one, Tiger Woods.

“He (Woods) said you have to remember what got you here in the first place, and you know Tiger, it’s ‘no’ 99 per cent of the time for him.”

A good finish for McIlroy in Dubai could be the change of tide the young golfer is looking for and possibly the best way to put a tough year behind him.
