Rory McIlroy Wins WGC-Cadillac Match Play and Hits Impressive Record
Rory McIlroy has hit another milestone shared by golfers Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.  Securing ten wins on the PGA Tour before his 26th birthday after claiming victory at Sunday’s WGC-Cadillac Match Play.

The Northern Irishman narrowly missed the opportunity, squeezing in number 10 just one day before his 26th birthday.  Defeating Gary Woodland 4&2 at Harding Park in San Francisco.

“It’s been a great week,” McIlroy told reporters afterwards. “Match play is a format that I’ve always enjoyed.  I feel it’s a format that I do well in and I excel in.”

The world number one was also excited about securing his first U.S. win of 2015 and is looking forward to hopefully carrying the momentum forward as he heads into this week’s Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.

“It’s really satisfying to get that first win here, no matter what format it is, it’s always nice to get a trophy,” McIlroy said.  “And now we move on to next week and try to do it again.”

“I got to the final of the match play a couple of years ago in Tucson and then went the next week and won at Honda,” said the Nike player.  Adding, “I don’t feel like there will be any sort of fatigue or tiredness after this week.”
