Shanshan Feng Wins LPGA Season Ender in Naples, Florida

Shanshan Feng Wins LPGA Season Ender in Naples, Florida
It wasn’t the ending everyone expected at the LPGA CME Titleholders.  With so many of the big American players taking part, most chatter turned to names like Stacy Lewis, Michelle Wie and Cristie Kerr early in the competition.  But it was China’s Shanshan Feng who led the charge Sunday, beating Gerina Pillar by just one stroke.

Giving the 24-year-old her second win in four starts.

“I had a goal early this year with winning two tournaments on the LPGA and I got one in China,” said Feng afterwards.  “I actually didn't think I was going to achieve my goal, but I made it at the last minute at the last tournament in Florida, so I'm really, really happy.”

New Zealand’s Lydia Ko made her professional debut in Naples.  While the 16-year-old didn’t finish at the top of the leader she was able to hold her own in the star-studded tournament.  Finishing at the more than respectable spot of T21 with a final score of 4-under 284.

“I've learned a lot of things this week, and yeah, I'm pretty happy that my first week is gone.  It's not a week that comes again, so yeah, I'm glad that it's over and then I can start a whole new career.”
