The King F6 range is coming in 2016 and we have all the information you need to know.
There are 3 F's that have gone into the F in F6, they are Fun, Flight and fitting. All three are equally as important. The fun is pretty obvious as the colours the drivers come in are really pretty bold. The flight F is due to the adjustability of the weight in the head. This is where you can either place it at the back of the driver for higher ball flight with more spin or if you place the weight in the front of the head it will change the ball flight for a lower spin in turn more run. The last F is for Fitting. This is recommended when purchasing one. You want to make sure you know the best settings to put the driver to so as to maximise your swing speed and launch angle. You can buy the club and play around with the settings yourself to find what suits you the best.
King F6 Driver
This is one of the most forgiving drivers Cobra have ever designed it includes the Flip Zone technology that so successful in the Fly-Z+ Range, which has the two 10g and 3gram movable weights that can interchange from front to back or back to front depending on the spin rate the player desires. There is even the opportunity of taking the 3g weight out altogether to create a third fitting option.
To move the weight of the club, both the crown of the club and the face is constructed with ultra-thin, forged Titanium this means the weights in the sole of the club have a far greater impact on the performance.
As you might expect there are eight different settings included within Cobras MyFly8 adjustable hosel. There is a revolutionary SmartPad within the club head that allows you to change the loft settings without the clubface becoming shut or open.
The updated and improved speed channel technology is featured within the range. This increases the performance on off-centre shots.
King F6+ Driver
This is a seriously aesthetically pleasing driver to look at. There are obvious differences between the King F6 and the King F6+ with the main difference being massive range of adjustability on the sole weight. It features an 18g weight on the sole that can be moved into 9 different slots along the bottom of the club.
A totally new innovation to the King F6+ driver is the 'CARBONTRAC' on the sole of the club. It is constructed of carbon fibre, that, of course, is lighter than the titanium track found on the Fly-Z+ driver, it houses an 18g weight that can be fixed in five different locations (nine if you included the notches in between) on the sole from front to back.
Cobra has extensively tested the Driver and has stated that the spin can vary by up to 500rpm when the weight is moved from front to back. As well as this vast different there is also a noticeable change in the sound and feel of the club depending where you have the weight located. With the weight at the front, the F6+ is Cobra’s lowest spinning driver in its range for 2015/16 thanks to an ultra-low CG position.
The track is cleverly positioned on a slight angle. This is so when the weight moves closer to the face it also moves towards the toe. As with everything on the club it has been done deliberately and this creates a slight fade bias that better players normally favour.
The F6+ also comes in a Pro model that has the same size head (460cc) as the F6+, but with a lower loft range (7°-10°), a flatter lie-angle and fade settings instead of draw more suited to players with the highest of swing speeds.
King F6 Fairway and Hybrid
The F6 fairway wood is Cobra’s first fairway wood to have adjustable sole weighting. The 20g weight can be flipped from the front to the rear and vice versa. This will give the player the option of a higher spin and more control on landing or a lower spin lower ball flight and extensive roll. Both things look great at address and are made to be as forgiving as possible.
The fairway woods also feature the SmartPad technology that maintains the square clubface throughout the different settings
King F6 Irons
They come in the form of a progressive set becoming more forgiving and easier to get height the higher up the set you go. Cobra says these are the perfect game improver irons, that have both great looks and are incredibly easy to use. What Progressive set is named because it is made from four types of iron head, the lower down the set the more blade like they become for heightened accuracy. The system within the Cobra King F6 is called TECFLO (Technology Enhanced Cavity Feel Launch Optimisation) This they say makes the clubs easy to use throughout the set.
- 3,4, 5 Irons have a full hollow design with a face insert creates a low CG and a highly responsive almost springy face to make it longer, easier to hit and higher launching long irons.
- 6-7 irons are a half-hollow design, providing a thin face with discretionary weight for optimal CG positioning and more precise irons shots.
- 8,9, PW, a cavity back design has a back and low centre of gravity position that provides more spin and added control on shorter shots as you get closer to the green.
- SW and GW are uniquely designed muscle back wedges that provide you with all the options for shots you might need around the green.
The irons feature a new Progressive Spin technology (PST) that runs throughout the set. In laymen's terms, there are three types of groove that are used to create the optimal spin and trajectory from long irons to short irons.
