DeLAET Finishes With Career Best While Helping To Raise $36,000 For Flood Relief

DeLAET Finishes With Career Best While Helping To Raise $36,000 For Flood Relief
Canada’s Graham DeLaet entered the final round of Sunday’s Travelers Championship in a three-way tie for first with Bubba Watson and Charley Hoffman.  With the words “For Alberta” written on his cap it was obvious the player’s thoughts were on more than just his game.

Over the last week severe flooding has devastated Alberta, Canada, leaving four confirmed dead and many evacuated.  DeLaet vowed to donate $1,000 for every birdie he made during the weekend’s tournament.  The PGA Tour Canada, ATB Financial and businessman L. David Dube all agreed to match the pledge.

DeLaet ended the final round with a birdie putt on the 18th hole, securing third place with a score of 11 under par.  Nine birdies throughout the weekend meant the 31 year-old not only achieved a career best finish, but also ensured $36,000 for relief efforts in his home country.

“Hopefully it puts a small dent in what they need, but our hearts are still with them,” said DeLaet.
