Victory Roundup - Check out the Gear the Pros Won with this Weekend

The summer golf schedule is starting to heat up with the third of five majors played over the weekend for the ladies and the Scottish Open providing a great “warm up” for the men ahead of this week’s Open Championship at Royal Troon. Check out the big winners and the hot gear they used to capture the latest titles on Sunday.

2016 seems to be a year of controversy for the U.S. Open. Last month Dustin Johnson’s win at Oakmont threatened to be overshadowed by the USGA’s decision to penalise the golfer after he finished his final round. Yesterday as the U.S. Women’s Open went to play-off holes to determine the winner, the USGA found themselves at the centre of a penalty controversy once again.

As Brittany Lang and Anna Nordqvist battled it out at Corde Valle Golf Club a relook at Nordqvist’s second hole revealed she had “grounded” her club in the bunker. The USGA informed the Swedish player on the next hole after she had hit her third shot. A timing Nordqvist was not overly happy with.

“It’s been a long day, a long week. So probably misjudged it a little bit and touched a little bit of sand and that is a penalty,” said Nordqvist afterwards. But added, “I just wish they would have told me a little earlier. They told me after I hit my third shot. It might not have changed anything, but I just wish it was a little bit earlier.”

Nordqvist was given a two-stroke penalty for the infraction and Lang went on to win her first major title. A victory she calls “a huge step in the right direction for my career.”

Over in Scotland the men took on Castle Stuart for the 2016 Scottish Open where Swedish player Alex Noren secured his 5th European Tour win. The Callaway golfer closed out Sunday’s final round with a 70 to finish with an impressive 14-under-par total.  Beating England’s Tyrrell Hatton by one-stroke.

“This is by far the biggest win,” Noren told reporters afterwards. “The amount of players that are here, and on a course like this in Scotland, it’s only what I dreamt of growing up.” It seems like yesterday was the perfect birthday present for the Swede who turns 34 on Tuesday.  Check out the Callaway player’s bag below to see what he used to conquer Castle Stuart:
