England’s own Eddie Pepperell finally secured his first European Tour title on Sunday. Winning the Qatar Masters by one-stroke over compatriot Oliver Fisher. The victory marks the 27-year-old’s first win in 129 starts and earned Pepperell an impressive payday of €236,315.
It definitely hasn’t been an easy ride for Pepperell who lost his tour card in 2016 and had to take a trip to Q school to get it back. On Sunday the golfer himself described his win as a “relief.”
Telling reporters, “What a day. Oli made it really tough and I made it tough for myself at the end with the second shot on 18. But I felt good all day, I was in a great place mentally and kept telling myself I’m going to win this and Oli certainly made life more interesting.”
“Relief I guess is the number one emotion, as is always the case with a win – although I haven’t had many,” added Pepperell.

Over on the PGA Tour Justin Thomas was in the winner’s circle for the eighth time at the Honda Classic. Clinching his latest victory from Luke List in a playoff after both golfers finished at 8-under par.
“It just felt great to get it done,” Thomas told reporters afterwards. Adding, “I feel very confident in pretty much every part of my game right now. I just hit some really, really well-executed shots coming down the stretch.”
