is looking to bridge the gap between their TW747
families of woods and irons. Enter the new TWorld XP-1
range, featuring draw-biased woods and multi-material irons with lightweight shafts. Read on to find out more about these game-improvement clubs.
The goal of Honma engineers was to create a range of clubs that still honours beautiful craftsmanship, but with total game improvement technologies. The result is the XP-1 range, a line of woods and irons that feature traditional looks and sizes, with incredible forgiveness.
The designers got the mission so on point, even former world number one and Honma staffer, Justin Rose was impressed.
“We took this driver out and showed it to Justin and he said, ‘Is this a new tour driver?’” Honma’s Vice President of global product Chris McGinley explained to Golf Digest. “‘No, Justin, it’s a game improvement driver.’ He said, ‘My goodness, well, I have some friends that would like to use this.’
Exclusive Honma Technology…
Like the TW747 Driver, the XP-1 Driver features an adjustable hosel, allowing players to tweak their loft and face angles without having to change the orientation of the shaft. An ultra thin and light carbon composite crown is further improved through a double slot design that has been added to the front of the sole and extends from heel to toe. This helps to reduce sidespin.
Honma’s exclusive Five Fang Technology has also been employed in the XP-1. Three fang-like tabs in the crown and 2 in the sole, provide a fast and efficient structure that will increase the face flex area and strengthen the thin surrounding wall.
The XP-1 Fairways feature a low Centre of Gravity and a heavy internal weight. The results are a higher launch and increased forgiveness. Honma’s double slot technology is also used in the 3, 5 and 7-wood for improved ball speed.
Like the Fairways, the XP-1 Hybrid also features a low CoG and double slot technology, with a larger overall profile.
The new XP-1 Irons boast impressive distance and accuracy, perfect for game-improvement players. A thin, fast face can be found throughout the set of hollow long irons, and short irons that feature a deep cavity. Thanks to a low CoG, you can expect higher launches and longer carries, along with a high MOI.
General Manager of Honma Golf Europe, Alejandro Sanchez says, “Recreational golfers who want to up their game should take a serious look at these clubs, as they represent the latest entry level into the premium quality that stands behind the Honma brand.”
