Putting Ball Position and the impact it has!

Mark Crossfield looks into the different ball position can have on a putting stroke.

The traditional putting stroke is in an arc like shape, so the club goes back and opens then through and closes. If you get the ball in the perfect position then the club will be square and you will putt on line to target. If you have the ball position to far forward then putter face will start to be closing and you will hit the ball left of your target line.

The opposite will occur having the ball to far back, the putter face will not have had time to release and thus will remain open. Different putters will release at differents rates, with face balanced putters not having much of an open to shut tendencies.
