Suzann Pettersen Crushes Inbee Park’s 4th Major Dream

Suzann Pettersen Crushes Inbee Park’s 4th Major Dream
As the Evian Championship came to a close last weekend it marked a successful, albeit weather-beaten at times, first performance as a major tournament.  Even with torrential downpours wiping out the first day of play, over the course of 54-holes the final major of the season proved victorious over the conditions, with Suzann Pettersen collecting her second career major win.

The Nike player seems to be riding a wave of success since contributing to Europe’s Solheim Cup victory last month.  A great and solid performance this weekend solidified Pettersen’s place as winner of the first-ever fifth major of the season.  Finishing with a 2-stroke victory over New Zealand amateur, Lydia Ko.

Pettersen is confident this is just the beginning of a long and prosperous stretch for her golfing career.

“I don't know if it's quite sunk in yet that I've won another major.  It's been a while but I'm pretty lucky to say that I've won two,” said the 32-year-old.

“Hopefully this is just the start.  It's been such a great month, five weeks for me, starting off with the Solheim (Cup).  It was a great kick-start for what became the best month of my career.”

South Korea’s Inbee Park was looking to catch her fourth major of the season but fell short finishing tied for 67th at 8-over par.
