Suzann Pettersen Forced to Withdraw from 2014’s First Major

Suzann Pettersen Forced to Withdraw from 2014’s First Major
World number two Suzann Pettersen announced on Tuesday she would be withdrawing from the Kraft Nabisco Championship, due to an aggravated disc in her back.

In a statement given through the LPGA, Pettersen confirmed her decision to skip the first major of 2014.

“It's so unfortunate that I can't compete this week,” stated the Nike player.  “I dearly love this event and would do anything to play.  At this point, I just need to be smart and not make a bad situation worse.”

It has been an injury prone year so far for Pettersen.  The soon-to-be 33 year-old missed the season opener in the Bahamas because of a shoulder injury while this most recent back issue forced her withdrawal from last week’s Kia Classic.

The Norwegian is now undergoing treatment and is hopeful she’ll be back in competition soon.
