Victory Roundup – Big Wins on Tour = Invites to The Open

As the excitement builds for this week’s Open Championship, two golfers are riding high after securing their own big wins a week ahead of golf’s oldest major. Check out all the action from yesterday’s conclusions of The John Deere Classic and the Scottish Open. Plus, see the golf gear the pros are winning with, available now at GolfOnline.

2 Wins in 2 Months…

Bernd Wiesberger secured his sixth European Tour win on Sunday, beating Benjamin Hebert on the third sudden death playoff hole at The Scottish Open.

Sunday’s win marks the Austrian’s second victory in two months and moves him up to first place in The Race to Dubai standings. Wiesberger’s good form is even more remarkable considering he missed seven months of last season due to a wrist injury.

“Being in places where you have no control over what is going to happen next all of last year makes it just a lot sweeter and you appreciate it a lot more,” the 34-year-old told reporters afterwards.

Take a look at the Titleist gear that’s propelling Wiesberger to the top:

Driver: Titleist TS3
Fairway Wood: Titleist TS3

Utility Iron: Titleist U500
Irons: Titleist 718 CB; Titleist 718 MB

Maiden Win = Major Invitation

Over on the PGA Tour, South Africa’s Dylan Frittelli secured his first Tour win at The John Deere Classic.

Fritelli managed to stay cool, calm and collected throughout his time at TPC Deere Run, carding an incredible final round 64 to win by 2-strokes. The 29-year-old now has a spot on Tour through the 2021 season and gains an invite to this week’s Open Championship as well as next year’s Masters and The Players Championship.

“It’s still sinking in. It means a lot,” Frittelli said after his win on Sunday. “Perspective is going to change big time. I’m going to jump on that flight and head over to the Open next week. Hopefully I can be calm by the time I get there, but I'm sure it's going to be a fun flight.”
