The Callaway Great Big Bertha Sub Zero Fairway Wood has a traditional shape and lots of innovative technologies that will deliver increased distance and control to your long game.
Designed to appear appealing to the better golfer the Sub Zero Fairway Wood features an interchangeable weight system that will allow you to alter the launch by /- 250RPM.
To achieve incredible all round performance gains the GBB Epic Sub Zero Fairway Wood features a multi-material head construction. A triaxial carbon makes the crown 78% lighter than a steel crown, enabling the CG to be positioned lower and deeper in the head for that easy-to-launch, forgiving flight. It also raises the MOI to increase stability at impact, for a combination that provides a super forgiving, incredibly high ball speed across the whole face. Resulting in incredible distance and accuracy gains.
Originally co-developed with Boeing the Speed Step technology reduces drag across the top of the head to increase club head speed and distance without any extra effort. Ball speeds across the whole face are incredibly high due to the refined Hyper Speed Face Cup. A thinner and more flexible rim on the inner of the face helps propel the ball off the face more efficiently at impact to give you improved distance.
To fine tune your launch and spin Callaway have continued to use their excellent OptiFit hosel technology, allowing you to go up in loft by 2° and down by 1° with the options of neutral, draw or upright face angles.
Premium shafts have been fitted as standard through the GBB Epic range, as you will see below, with more options available through custom.
Diamana M Green – Mitsubishi’s first ever sub-50g Diamana offering. Diamana has been a staple on Tour for many years, and led the PGA and European Tour in wins in 2016. This shaft will be available in the 40g and 50g classes
Project X HZRDUS – features high modulus T800 carbon fiber and is offered in the 50g and 60g class. HZRDUS has quickly made a name for itself on Tour and has been the #1 played model during the 2016-2017 PGA Tour season
Fujikura Pro Green - a popular choice on Tour. This shaft features a stiffened mid and tip section for stability. It is offered in the 60g and 70g classes and we expect it will be a popular stock option for the Epic Sub Zero driver
Aldila Rogue MAX – new version of the popular Rogue series of shafts. This shaft features a full length multi-axial carbon weave and plays with quite low torque. This will be available as stock in the 60g & 70g classes as well as in the 80g class for the Epic Fairways.
