Titleist RCT Golf Balls – When Flight & Spin Mean Everything

Golfers serious about improving their scores are willing to search for the answers that could unlock the full potential of their swing. From indoor simulators to portable launch monitors, the technology is there to analyse every aspect of your game. Now Titleist wants to help you get even more accurate data to optimise your indoor play. Their contribution – the RCT Golf Balls.

 Short for Radar Capture Technology
, the Titleist RCT golf balls were specifically developed by Titleist R&D to enhance the data capture launch conditions in an indoor environment to deliver the most accurate information possible.

So, what’s the purpose of these balls?

Before, indoor launch monitors would require an aluminium foil sticker to be placed on the outside of the golf ball. This was used to help the radar estimate launch and spin. To get the most accurate data these foil stickers would need to be aligned a certain way for every shot. The cons to this would be the sticker moving or even falling off and needing to be reapplied. Titleist engineers believed there must be a better way to get more accurate spin and flight data. Over a three-year period, the R&D Team developed a way to embed radar reflective technology right into the golf ball, effectively hidden under the cover.

So, how does RCT work?

Using an internal radar reflective marker, the RCT golf balls are able to deliver an optimised signal capture, delivering true spin versus estimates in current indoor settings. The measuring of launch, speed and spin at impact improves the output of data generated by launch monitor devices, including the data related to calculated distance and trajectory. Measured performance enables better fitting opportunities for both club and ball.

The overall fitting or launch monitor experience can be greatly improved by using one of the RCT golf balls. First released in a Pro V1 and Pro V1x version, the RCT range from Titleist now includes the Pro V1x Left Dash and AVX models.

“The RCT golf balls include the same design, materials, quality manufacturing, and most importantly the identical performance as every non-RCT model, with enhanced indoor radar signal capture,” says Jeremy Stone, Vice President, Titleist Golf Ball Marketing.

Portable Launch Monitor Use

For years indoor simulators have answered the call for those wanting to explore every aspect of their game. But today advances in technology have seen the birth of portable launch monitors, like the Garmin Approach R10, which help golfers assess their swings on the course or at home. This has opened up a whole new realm and makes the RCT golf ball offering even more appealing to a wider range of golfers.

Garmin states that using the Titleist RCT golf balls with their Approach R10 can yield up to 30x more accuracy on spin rate capture and a whopping 50% more accuracy on carry distance capture.

Beyond the obvious benefits of indoor use, the Titleist RCT golf balls can also be used for outdoor play. Buy yours now at GolfOnline!
