Woods Shoots Nine-Hole Career Worst

Woods Shoots Nine-Hole Career Worst
The third round of the Memorial Tournament was not kind to Tiger Woods.  The outward nine-holes saw the defending champion double bogey on the 12th and 15th, then drop another shot on the 17th before triple bogeying on the 18th.

Leaving him with a career high score of 44 and the golfer’s worst ever round at Jack Nicklaus’ Muirfield Village Course.

“It was a rough day.  It was tough out there from beginning to end.”

Wood’s rough day was most apparent on the 18th hole.  While taking his third shot from the fairway, the ball landed on the green, bounced and began to roll back.  Finally coming to a rest further than where he had originally taken the shot.

“It's just one of those things where I'm sure I'm not the only one who struggled out there,'' Woods said. "The conditions were tough. When I missed, it cost me. I caught the wrong gusts at the wrong time, made a couple bad swings and all in all, it just went the wrong way.”

The pro ended the day with a score of 79, 16 shots behind the leader, Matt Kurcher, who went on to win the tournament.
