Callaway Golf is going Rogue for Incredible Distance and Forgiveness in 2018

Callaway Golf is the latest golf company to release their 2018 lines. So how does the brand plan on surpassing their EPIC range? They’re going Rogue to give golfers a collection of drivers and fairway woods that will maximise distance, forgiveness and launch easier than ever before.

We’re Not Done Breaking Through…

The engineers at Callaway knew they had created something extraordinary when they developed Jailbreak technology for the Epic range. Now they have set out to further increase the benefits of this already incredible breakthrough. Introducing a new hourglass shape to the two titanium bars helped to reduce the weight by a whopping 25 percent! This weight was then redistributed within the head for extra added forgiveness.

The lighter titanium bars of Jailbreak help to create a strong vertical connection between the crown and sole of the club head, allowing the face to take on nearly twice the impact load. The result is greater ball speed and more distance than ever before.

Callaway wasn’t done yet. To further develop the Rogue, designers also came up with a new innovative variable-thickness face design – the X Face. By studying 107 impact locations during the design process, Callaway was able to better investigate how the face behaves at impact. Creating the X Face, a group of ridges (in varying thicknesses) in the shape of a large X in the middle of the face, to deliver what the brand believes will be your highest ball speeds yet.

The game-changing combination of the new Jailbreak plus the X Face helps to give the Rogue Drivers a 16 percent increase in MOI in comparison to the brand’s XR16 and a 7.5 percent increase over the GBB Epic.

Callaway has also continued their collaboration with Boeing to ensure the Rogue’s head design features the best in modern aerodynamic technology. By including a newly designed speed step on the crown, near the edge of the face, the designers managed to change how the air flows over the front of the crown. Redefining the geometry of the leading edge to improve air flow and increase clubhead speed.

Not One, Not Two But THREE Rogue Driver Heads to Choose From

Now is the perfect time to go Rogue as there is a model for every golfer. The Rogue Driver (standard) is a 460cc head that lends way to a high MOI for fast ball speeds and increased forgiveness. The Rogue Sub Zero is a tour-level driver that’s extremely forgiving with a powerful low spin. Interchangeable weights in the Sub Zero model help to fine tune launch angle and spin rate. The third Rogue model is the Rogue Draw. Specifically engineered to promote straighter and longer drives by promoting a distance-enhancing draw.

Don’t just take our word for it…

“When I first tested Rogue, I kept waiting for the ball to land,” says Masters winner Sergio Garcia. “I’ve never generated ball speed like that before. It was incredible.”

And for the first time ever…

With the Rogue, Callaway have now utilised their incredible Jailbreak technology for the first time in a fairway wood. This, along with the brand’s Face Cup technology works to make the Rogue Fairway Woods the most powerful yet – even on those pesky mis-hits. By employing Jailbreak on the club head, Callaway was able to use an ultra-thin Carpenter 455 steel face, allowing the face to flex for dramatic ball speed no matter where you make impact. The Rogue Fairway Wood also benefits from a 2-gram weight screw in the front of the sole to position CG low and forward. This helps to promote a high, flat trajectory with very low spin.

Callaway brand ambassador and five-time major winner Phil Mickelson says, “I remember asking the R&D guys last year when they were going to put Jailbreak in a fairway.” Adding, “I was kidding but a year later they actually did it. The distance these fairway woods can generate is seriously unbelievable. No par 5 is out of the question.”

The fairway woods come in two options: Rogue Standard and Sub Zero. The Standard will deliver excellent launch, spin and speed thanks to the Jailbreak/Face Cup combo. While the Sub Zero model boasts a more forward CG position to enhance low spin, high launch and fast speed for the better player.

The complete range of Rogue Drivers and Fairway Woods will be available to pre book at GolfOnline from January 26, 2018. Don’t miss your opportunity to #GoRogue!!!
